How it Works

How it Works

The PetFence Containment System consists of three primary components:

  • Fence Transmitter
  • Receiver
  • Boundary Wire

The system works by producing a radio signal from the Fence Transmitter through the Boundary Wire of up to 1200 metres or enclosing 15 acres (a more powerful transmitter is available for circuits that need to enclose up to 100 acres). The range of this signal can be adjusted from 12inches to 25 feet.

Site plan for Pet Fence

The Boundary Wire is fixed around the property to enclose the Pet Area, the area you would like your cats and/or dogs the freedom to roam. You temporarily define this Pet Area with boundary flags as a visual aid in training your pet.

Your pet wears a Receiver collar with contact points that touch it’s neck. When your pet reaches the Warning Zone, the Collar gives a bleep. Once trained you pet will remain within the PetFence boundary.

If your pet continues into the Correction Zone the Collar will deliver a correction to the pet. This correction does not harm the pet and is similar to a static electricity shock that we feel occasionally from a car door.

It does not take long for your pet to learn to respond to the Warning Signal and return to your safe area within the garden.
